What makes the Back Appeal a great back smoothing bra

A good back smoothing bra has one job. It should support you properly while keeping a clean line under your clothes. The Back Appeal does both, and that is rarer than you might think.

The band is a micro thin spacer fabric that sits flat across the back and sides, so there is no bulge above or below it. Inside the cups, a hidden sling does the lifting, gently and without fuss. You get a smooth, confident line under a t-shirt or a fine knit.

How the smoothing actually works

The smoothing comes from the band, not from squeezing. Many bras dig in to create a smooth look. This one does the opposite.

A wide band spreads the support over a larger area, which takes the pressure off any single point. The fabric stays soft and breathable, comfortable all day. Straps adjust as you would expect, and it fastens with a standard hook and eye.

One thing worth saying: this is a smoothing bra, not a minimiser. It will not reduce your bust. What it gives you is a sleeker line and proper support.

Underwire or wire free

The Back Appeal comes in two versions. Underwire gives a little more lift and structure. Wire free is softer and very easy to wear. Both smooth in the same way, so it comes down to what feels best on you.

Six colours to choose from

Most smoothing bras come in black, beige and little else. Shirley wanted more choice, so we stock the Back Appeal in six colours.

For everyday there is soft Rose Dust pink, classic Black, and a warm Praline that vanishes under pale clothes. When you fancy something brighter, there is rich Regina Red, pretty Cradle Pink and a smart Dark Slate Grey. The neutrals are the workhorses. The brighter shades are a treat.

The Back Appeal is made in a generous size range. It runs from a B cup up to an FF cup, in bands from 32 to 42. That covers most women comfortably.
