What is Notshy Cashmere?

Notshy Cashmere is a French womenswear brand based in Paris that has specialised in cashmere since 1998. It is known for relaxed jumpers, ponchos, cardigans and accessories in a wide spread of colours. The brand picks the yarn weight for each piece, so its knits range from fine and light for warmer months to thick and properly warm for winter.

Should you size up in cashmere?

With Notshy, usually not. Jumpers such as the Lilou are deliberately cut relaxed and boxy, so sizing up tends to make them swamp you. Our Notshy knitwear comes in S, M and L, and the scarves and socks are one size. If you are unsure about a style, call us on 01747 852444.

Do cashmere jumpers bobble?

Yes, a little, and it is normal for any natural cashmere, especially where a bag strap rubs. Notshy recommends washing cashmere cold, by hand or on a wool cycle at 20°C or below, drying it flat away from heat and storing it folded. Lift bobbles off with a cashmere comb rather than pulling them, and always check the care label first.

Notshy Cashmere is a French label that has made cashmere its signature since 1998, and colour is the reason to look at it. We have the Lilou jumper in seventeen shades this autumn, alongside Notshy scarves, socks and cardigans. This is cashmere for wearing every day, not for keeping in tissue paper.

We started stocking Notshy this season because Shirley was looking for cashmere that did not look like everyone else's. Most knitwear this soft comes in navy, grey and camel. Notshy does those, and then keeps going.

Most of what we have in is the Lilou, a relaxed crew neck in pure cashmere with elbow-length sleeves. It is cut boxy through the body and finishes at the waist, so it sits well over high-waisted jeans and wide trousers. Black, navy and ecru are in the mix, along with magenta, flamingo pink, burgundy and a bright emerald.

The Violeta scarf picks up five of the Lilou colours, cacao and flamingo included. Irene socks come in black and navy, and for layering there is the Wanda V-neck cardigan and the Frost jumper in ecru and black.

The Lilou is a fine two-ply knit, which means each stitch uses two strands of yarn. It is light enough to wear indoors without overheating and still warm under a coat. If you are in Shaftesbury, the colours are worth seeing in person. Online orders go out with tracked UK delivery.
