Oats & Rice

Oats & Rice is a British label that specialises in cashmere accessories, and most of what we bought from them this autumn is neck scarves. They are small and soft, made to knot once at the throat, in colours you will not see on everyone else this winter. We have six scarf styles in, with Marine fingerless hand warmers to match.

The Bronte and Austen are spindle shaped, wide through the middle and tapering to two points, with a contrast stripe or edge running round the outline. Tied once, they sit under a coat collar without any bulk. The Sailor is longer and narrower, knitted in a two-tone chevron rib in navy, grey, green, brown or wine.

Three of them work differently. The Coral has a keyhole slot, so one end threads through the other and stays put with no knot. The Mia is a small triangle neckerchief with a square motif knitted in. And the Muse is woven rather than knitted, a fine cashmere square that shades from cream at the centre to colour at the edge, light enough to tie as a headscarf.

The Marine hand warmers are fingerless, with a separate thumb and a deep cuff that folds back, so you can drive, type or hold a dog lead without taking them off. Each colour matches a Sailor scarf if you like a set. Come and try the colours against your own coat in Shaftesbury, or order online with tracked UK delivery.
