Freya Plunge Bra Size Guide: From a 28 Back to a K Cup

Freya Cherish Me red leopard underwired plunge bra at Shirley Allum Boutique

A Freya plunge bra is built for a fuller bust on a smaller back, and most of Freya's styles start at a 28. The range goes up to a K cup, with prints and colour you rarely see above a DD.

Freya belongs to the same group as Fantasie and Elomi and uses the same UK sizes. So if you already wear one of those, your size is the place to start.

At a glance

  • Freya bras run from a 28 to a 40 back
  • Cups go up to a K, in UK sizes with doubled letters
  • Most plunge styles start at a 28 back
  • Freya say 80% of a bra's support comes from the underband
  • Briefs come in XS to XL on most ranges

Freya sizes and conversions

Start from your usual UK size, or measure with our guide to how to measure bra size. Freya labels carry European and French sizes as well, and the cup letters are where people trip up.

UK band 28 30 32 34 36 38 40
Europe 60 65 70 75 80 85 90
France 75 80 85 90 95 100 105
UK cup Europe UK cup Europe
D D GG J
DD E H K
E F HH L
F G J M
FF H JJ N
G I K O

So a UK 30FF is a European 65H. Freya recommend a fitting every six months, because weight change, breastfeeding and the menopause can all change your shape.

Freya's three fit checks

Freya's own fit guide comes down to three checks. Lean forward, scoop each breast into its cup, then stand straight and look in the mirror.

  • The band sits firmly around your ribcage, level front and back. If it rides up your back, it is too big.
  • The centre front lies flat on your breastbone. If it sits on breast tissue, go up a cup.
  • The cups give an even, rounded shape, with the wire behind the breast and nothing squashed under the arm. Spilling over the top, even a little, means the next cup up.

A plunge makes that second check easy to misread. The centre front is low and narrow, but it should still touch your breastbone. If it floats, the cup is too small.

Plunge or moulded plunge?

Freya make both, and the difference is in the cup. Cherish Me shows it well, because the print comes in each.

The Cherish Me plunge is a plunge without push up. The top of the cup is stretch lace, so it moves with you, and it runs from a 28DD to a 38H, plus a D cup from a 30 back.

The Cherish Me moulded plunge has smooth, seamless cups that keep a rounded shape under a fitted top. A J hook on the back turns the straps into a racer back. It goes up to a GG.

If you want the most room in the cup, Freya's side support bras are worth a try too. An extra panel at the side of the cup brings the bust forward, and those go all the way to a K.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes do Freya bras come in?

Freya bras run from a 28 to a 40 back and up to a K cup, in UK sizing with doubled letters such as FF and GG. Each style has its own range: the Cherish Me plunge goes from 28DD to 38H, while the side support styles reach a K. Most Freya briefs come in XS to XL.

Are Freya bras true to size?

Freya uses the same UK sizing as Fantasie and Elomi, so start with your usual size. On a European label the cup letters change from DD upwards: a UK DD is a European E, and a UK FF a European H. If the band rides up your back, try one band smaller and one cup larger.

What does plunge without push up mean?

The centre front sits low for a V neck, but the cups have no padding to push the bust up and together. You get the neckline and keep your natural shape. Freya's Cherish Me plunge is made this way, with a stretch lace top cup.

Does Freya make bras for a small back and a big cup?

Yes. Most Freya styles start at a 28 back, and many go well past a G cup on it: the Cherish Me plunge comes in a 28H. If your band always rides up but the cups feel tight, a smaller back and bigger cup is worth trying.
